Pennine’s First NHS England SME Forum

As a Derby-based medical device manufacturer and proud employee-owned company, we are thrilled to share the success of our very first NHS England SME Forum, which we had the honor of hosting right here at Pennine HQ. It was an exciting moment for us to welcome over 100 delegates to discuss, connect, and collaborate on the future of healthcare procurement and the ever-evolving role of small and medium enterprises (SMEs) in shaping the healthcare landscape.

The event was a true reflection of what makes Pennine Healthcare so passionate about the future of medical technology. Not only did it provide an invaluable platform for thought leadership and dialogue, but it also reinforced our commitment to fostering innovation, collaboration, and the role SMEs play in advancing healthcare.

We were fortunate to have an outstanding lineup of speakers to drive these important conversations forward, including:

  • Shirley Cooper OBE, Small Business Crown Representative, Cabinet Office
  • Nic Fox, Director of Commercial Delivery and Governance, NHS England
  • Ian Charvill, Head of the Public Procurement Review Service, Cabinet Office
  • Graeme Cameron, CEO, Pennine Healthcare… and many more!

The event’s discussions highlighted the significant role that SMEs like Pennine Healthcare play in the public procurement landscape. At Pennine, we firmly believe that the growth and integration of SMEs into the NHS supply chain is crucial for driving innovation, improving efficiency, and, ultimately, advancing patient care.

In line with our ‘Heart of Life is Health’ campaign, we wanted to make the event is  about more than just business. To promote health and well-being among all those in attendance, we offered free Healthy Heart Checks, courtesy of PocDoc. It’s something we were particularly excited about, as it reflects our core belief that health isn’t just about products but about caring for the individual too.

Graeme Cameron, our Chief Executive Officer, comments:

As CEO of Pennine Healthcare, I couldn’t be prouder of how the event came together. The opportunity to facilitate important discussions, listen to diverse perspectives, and deepen our understanding of the challenges and opportunities within healthcare procurement was invaluable. Hosting this forum not only allowed us to share our insights but also to support the vital role SMEs play in driving the future of healthcare.

At Pennine Healthcare, we’re committed to supporting SMEs and their growth within the NHS supply chain, and events like these reinforce why collaboration is key to shaping the future of healthcare. As the industry evolves, it’s vital that we remain at the forefront of innovation, sharing ideas, and strengthening ties between SMEs and the NHS.

Looking ahead, we’re excited to continue fostering meaningful conversations, building connections, and doing our part to ensure that the UK MedTech sector remains a leader in excellence for years to come.
