At Pennine Healthcare, we are committed to supporting our local communities by organising multiple fundraising opportunities each year. This year, our Chosen Charity has been Prostate Cancer UK, to aid them in their mission to fund groundbreaking research, drive improvements in treatment, and fight injustice in care. Throughout 2024, we have been busy raising money for this tremendous charity, amounting to an amazing £2000 – all for Prostate Cancer UK!
Our CEO, Graeme comments:
“Here at Pennine, our Purpose is to ‘Protect Life. Empower Colleagues. Enrich Communities.’ I am delighted that we have raised such a substantial amount for Prostate Cancer UK, through our colleague’s hard work and commitment. We work hard here at Pennine to ensure that we live and breathe our purpose every single day. Thanks to all at Team Pennine.”
Take a look below to recap our efforts:
Derby 10k
In the spring, a group of our colleagues participated in the Derby 10k run, which welcomes thousands of entrants each year to take on the challenge around the city’s streets.
Business Fives Football Tournament
We took part in the Business Fives Football Tournament, competing against other local businesses. Our team showcased their skills on the pitch, and the event provided an excellent opportunity to network while supporting a worthy cause.
100-Mile Bike Ride
A small but dedicated group of cyclists embarked on a challenging 100-mile bike ride, traversing scenic routes all the way up to Skegness! Their determination and endurance were truly inspiring.
Rowathon
In the autumn, our Colleague Council, We Matter, hosted a Rowathon event, where teams competed to cover the longest distance on rowing machines within 8 hours.
Euro’s Sweepstake and Blackout
During the UEFA European Championship, we organised a sweepstake and blackout competition, engaging employees in friendly competition throughout the duration of the tournament.
Halloween Charity Bake Sale
A spooky, fun-filled day brought festive cheer to the business. Colleagues brought in their own creative bakes and they were sold in our canteen throughout the day!
Shirt 2 Work Day
In support of Prostate Cancer UK’s ‘Shirt 2 Work Day,’ employees wore football shirts to work, making a donation to participate. This simple yet effective event fostered a sense of unity and purpose within the company.
International Men’s Day
On International Men’s Day, we hosted a series of talks and discussions focusing on men’s health issues, including prostate cancer. The event aimed to raise awareness and encourage open conversations about men’s health.
Christmas Jumper Day
In December, we embraced the festive spirit by hosting a Christmas Jumper Day. Employees donned their most creative holiday-themed attire, making donations to participate. The event was a fun way to end the year while supporting a vital cause.
Charity Raffle
To finish of the year, we organised a charity raffle with prizes donated by local businesses and employees. The raffle was a popular event, with proceeds going directly to Prostate Cancer UK.
Collectively, these events have not only raised substantial funds but also fostered a culture of health, awareness, and community within Pennine. We are proud of our achievements, and our colleagues who made all of this happen!
We would like to extend our heartfelt gratitude to all employees, partners, and participants who have contributed to our fundraising initiatives this year. Your dedication and generosity have made a significant impact, contributing to our ongoing effort in Protecting Life. Empowering Colleagues. Enriching Communities.
