As we approach the end of 2023, we would like to reflect and reminisce with you on our achievements over the past year.
We are proud to have undertaken so much and would like to thank our colleagues for their continuous hard work, and commitment to enforcing our purpose of Protecting Life, Empowering Colleagues, and Enriching Communities.
Without further ado, here is our 2023 recap…
We have created Our Elevator Speech to help showcase the full extent of the work we undertake, and how we operate differently to others It’s a good overview of what makes us stand out from the crowd!
We are proud of our 60-year legacy, and the direction the company is travelling in, to form a long and sustainable future.
When you have been in business as long as we have, you often take for granted not everyone knows the full extent of the work you do, and the markets you operate in. Our Value Proposition is also fluid, as we look to maintain and grow our value adding partnerships.
Here at Pennine, we are proud to have 3 apprentices on board currently, in Marketing, Customer Service, and Maintenance, with a view to offering more opportunities in the near future.
We were delighted to announce that we successfully completed our annual MDR/QMS surveillance audit from our Notified Body – BSI.
Here at Pennine, we are delighted that 66% of our workforce are female, with representation across the entire business. We also try to lead from the top, with 45% of our 11-person Senior Leadership Team being women.
Our chosen charity for this year has been Women’s Work (Derbyshire) Ltd, who do great work supporting vulnerable women in our city by providing essential skills and helping to instil the confidence to truly flourish in life!
We are consistently championing UK Manufacturing, based on strong, value adding partnerships.
Therefore, we were delighted to announce that we are working with a fellow medical device company, Medtrade Products Limited, specifically focusing on their innovative Wound Care product range, Celox.
To celebrate our partnership with Medtrade Products Limited, we commissioned a brand-new Cleanroom onsite here at Pennine Headquarters, which saw us hold an official grand opening. Prosecco was poured and cakes were devoured, making the event a successful one.
We took a moment to thank our Clean Room teams for their hard work by delivering Easter Eggs.
We were also touched by their gesture towards their team leaders and Operations Management, purchasing Easter Eggs in return out of their own funds. This truly reflected the amazing culture that we maintain here at Pennine!
In aid of the event, our reception was kitted out with exercise bikes, industrial fans, and a balloon arch in preparation for our Charity Pedalathon, for our chosen charity, Women’s Work, and was organised by our employee council, We Matter.
It saw the Senior Leadership Team, We Matter, and our Operations Team compete against each other to see which team could cycle the furthest across the day. We were pleased to share that it was We Matter who came out on top, cycling a whopping 261.36km!
Organised by our We Matter Council, the annual Spring Clean provides a chance for a group of our employees to distance themselves from their work environment to the great outdoors surrounding our Pennine HQ and around Derby.
The campaign aimed to promoting a safer working environment and encouraging individuals to take proactive measures when encountering hazards. The initiative emphasized the importance of recognizing hazards, taking action to mitigate risks, and reporting the incidents to the appropriate authorities.
We recognise the importance of positive relationships and trust in the workplace and want our colleagues to feel involved in all opportunities here at Pennine. Our new initiative reinforces our intentions by encouraging all employees to have their say in the running of the business and a chance to be honest about any mistakes they may have made and how they have learnt from them.
We were delighted to celebrate at our 60th Summer Party, bringing together all our colleagues to honor Pennine Healthcare on its remarkable 60th anniversary.

We were very pleased to introduce a collaboration with Pd-m earlier in the year, enabling us to get closer to our key stone priority of Net-Zero.
We celebrated Manufacturing Day 2023 in October, a day in which local communities receive insight from manufacturers into the available career paths and the diverse opportunities that the sector has to offer.
Thanks to the cooperation of some of our local schools, we had the opportunity to celebrate the day by visiting both, White Cross Nursery, and Horizons Sixth Form. It was a great experience that allowed us to connect with the potential future innovators within our community.
Pennine colleagues came together to organise a spooktacular day, with many of our colleagues showing their best fancy dress for the occasion. From witches, to the Addams Family, we were very impressed.
We were delighted to announce that we won the prestigious Make UK Midlands & East of England, Manufacturing Matters Award 2023.
This is a special and very important achievement for Pennine, with our 60 years history, and our clearly defined values and purpose statement.
For the 20th year in a row, some of our team attended Medica 2023 in Düsseldorf, Germany. We heard from our CEO on the ABHI Pavilion Stage, celebrating Pennine’s 60 years in healthcare, as well as celebrated in style with free-flowing prosecco, good laughs, and thoughtful conversations.
We had a fantastic time exhibiting at the London Vet Show 2023. It was an incredible opportunity to connect with like-minded individuals in the veterinary community.
We kicked off December with our annual Christmas Party, hosted in the center of Derby. With a photobooth, DJ, and drinks flowing – it was an evening to remember.
We were delighted to see all the fabulous Christmas jumpers worn by our colleagues across the business. Raising money for Save the Children UK, everyone contributed towards helping 45 million children across the world get the medicine, good food and education they need.
2023 has not only represented new foundations at Pennine but also a significant milestone – our 60th anniversary!
From humble beginnings in 1963, we are delighted to have stood the test of time, championing UK Manufacturing and supporting the NHS by being a key supplier, all from our HQ in the center of Derby.
Thank you to all who have been involved with us for this journey, from our amazing employees to our valued customers.
